Dermatitis is another name for a skin irritation or rash. There are many types; they vary by the kind of rash and where it is on your body. Contact dermatitis: red bumps and blisters that often weep and crust over can appear anywhere on the body. It's most often caused by an irritation or allergy to a skincare product or plant.
This type of dermatitis is caused when the skin reacts to certain soaps, chlorine, and nickel-plated jewelry. Make sure to wash new clothing before wearing them for the first time. Perfumes and other items in make up may also bring it on.
Another type, nummular dermatitis is marked by round, red, oozing places, most often on the arms and legs. Stress and other skin problems can bring it on. Older people with dry skin or who live in dry climates often get it. It gets worse if you bathe in very hot water. It usually clears up by itself.
