The source of warts is any one of about 70 types of the human pipilloma virus. You pick up the virus by coming into contact with skin shed from a wart. The virus enters through a cut or nick in the skin, causing skin cells to grow quickly, creating a new wart. This doesn't happen easily, except in the case of genital warts.
Children, young adults, and people with weakened immune systems are most likely to get warts. Children's warts nearly always go away within an year or so, but in adults they may take longer, or may need to be removed.

- When shaving, use an electric razor to avoid the small nicks and scratches that may allow viruses to enter

- If you have genital warts, see your doctor
- You can remove warts, when they are not on the face or the genitals with over the counter drugs that contain salicylic acid. Salicylic acid cream in the treatment of warts is highly beneficial.
- Don't cut or burn the wart
- Planter warts often extend below the surface of the skin. You may need the help of a doctor to remove them.
- Some experts believe you can think your warts away. Sit quietly, close your eyes, and create an image of the wart shrinking and vanishing. Do it for 5 to 10 minutes 2 or 3 times a day
When do you need to see doctor?
- If you or you r partner has genital warts, which can be passed onto others
- If you are over 45 and you find a new wart. Your doctor will want to check it to make sure it's not skin cancer
- If you want a wart on your face removed
- If you have a wart that does not respond to home treatment, if it bleeds, changes color, or looks infected.
