Relieve constipation with aloe vera
Aloe vera is an excellent home remedy to treat constipation. It is an astringent and works as a natural laxative. It is completely natural and usually does not have any major side-effects except for mild cramps in the stomach. There may be some who may be allergic to aloe vera. They should discontinue use if any rash or such other undesirable effects occur.

Below are given some ways in which aloe vera can be effectively used to counter constipation.

  • Fresh aloe vera gel, up to 2tbsp., can be mixed into a fresh fruit juice and consumed early in the morning or just before going to bed at night.
  • Aloe vera juice can be consumed every morning for chronic constipation.
  • Aloe vera capsules are also beneficial in relieving constipation. They should be taken according to the dosage mention on the pack.
  • If aloe vera leaf is available, a small amount of the gel can be eaten on an empty stomach every morning.
  • Aloe vera gel can be mixed with peppermint tea to cure mild cases of constipation.

Caution
Heavy use of aloe vera in any form – gel, juice or capsules – should be avoided as this might interfere with bowel functioning once discontinued. Women who are pregnant or breastfeed their infants must avoid using aloe vera in any form as it has not been tested for effects on the mother and child.
